POSITION OVERVIEW:

If you have exceptional Project Management leadership skills and enjoy coaching and inspiring a team to exceed expectations, Abiomed may be where your dream career awaits!    We are looking for someone that can bring a forward-thinking approach to project management to ensure our product roadmap is executed to perfection.  The Project Manager Leader must have the ability to plan, manage resources, schedule, make risk decisions, and performance commitments in fulfilling program, project, or system objectives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly manages and oversees a team of Project Managers (4-5 people) assigned to Product Development Core Teams while also serving as a Project Manager on Core Team(s).
  • Drive functional excellence in Project Management that will ensure the success of program deliverables, with a focus on predictability, scalability efficiency, and execution.
  • Partner with the Core Teams to drive accountability for developing an overall program/project plan (schedule, critical path, risk register, resources, SOP compliance) and oversee execution.
  • Responsible for overall (and individual as assigned) program communications, administration, meeting management, governance, executive team reporting, presentations and other related activities.
  • Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work across the PM function and ensures that his/her team’s work on an assigned programs meets cost, schedule, technical performance.
  • Solicits recommendations from program leadership to develop solutions to complex problems that could significantly impact each program’s schedule, cost, or performance.




Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field.
  • 10+ years of progressive job growth showcasing broad, multi-disciplinary technical knowledge, with significant expertise in one or more specialties. 
  • Comprehensive experience leading and executing the coordination of program/project teams and the delivery of products.
  • Exceptional project management experience, influence management, and team building capability.
  • History of being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on time. 
  • Showcase collaborative working skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written, analytical/problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential.
  • Ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and company operating procedures, processes, policies, and rules.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.   Demonstrated proficiency with MS Project.

DESIRED:

  • Advanced credentials in a relevant technical discipline/concentration and/or an MBA.
  • Formal academic and/or in-house training in leadership, Six Sigma, and related are desired.
  • Formal training in Program/Project Management or Program Management Professional Certification.
