Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Academic Research, the Business Development Manager will lead and manage Abiomed’s growing portfolio of investments in early stage technologies and companies, aligning the market, financial and technical risk assessments with the company’s goal of becoming the standard of care in the fields of heart failure therapy, heart recovery and minimally invasive mechanical circulatory support.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Build Abiomed’s program and process of investment portfolio management

Develop a process to capture portfolio companies’ technical and clinical progress

Act as Abiomed’s representative on portfolio companies’ Board of Directors

Lead the due diligence process of investment opportunities, including market, technical and financial risk models, bring actionable recommendation to the senior management team

Seek new investment opportunities in early stage companies or in new technologies through seed investments

Work with the legal and finance team to negotiate investment terms

Maintain and build Abiomed’s organizational knowledge of new technologies focused on heart failure and heart recovery therapies
