Job Description

We are looking for a Senior or Principal Electrical Assembly Technician with strong electronic assembly skills.  The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to take ownership of her/his assignments and follow through to completion.  Under general supervision, the assembly technician will perform a variety of principal level technical and administrative duties in the development of new products.   In addition, the assembly technician role will support engineers in the development of new products by providing fabrication, assembly, and test support, as well as adding support to existing products by assisting engineers with failure internal and external investigations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Assembly & Fabrication

  1. Read schematics and assembly drawings.
  2. Electronic circuit and component knowledge.
  3. Perform circuit board assembly to applicable IPC class 3 quality standards.  This includes surface mount and through hole assembly.
  4. Build cable assemblies per print.
  5. Plan and execute basic machining, assembly, electrical or testing tasks without supervision.
  6. Design and fabricate test or assembly fixtures.
  7. Use schematic capture software such as Orcad Capture is desirable.
  8. Knowledgeable with MS Word 
  9. Provide DFM (Design For Manufacturing) feedback to the responsible engineers.

Test

  1. Operate and use electronic test equipment with minimal supervision.
  2. Understand and troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
  3. Able to instrument circuits for data acquisition.




Skills/Requirements

Execution & Communication

  1. Provide verbal or written updates to supervisor
  2. Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision.
  3. Able to prioritize tasks.
  4. Locate and order parts from a schematic or BOM.
  5. Documents and records data, experimental setups, modifications to circuits, etc. in a lab notebook.
  6. Able to follow written assembly and test procedures.
  7. Generate ECOs to document components and subassemblies per the applicable SOPs.

Minimum Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  1. High school degree, Associates degree preferred.
  2. A minimum of three years' experience in a comparable working environment.
