Job Description

Lead and contribute to Manufacturing development and scale-up by managing technical activities, timelines, and budgets.  Sets the tone for all team members by remaining focused and organized.  Shows a highly responsive attitude and accountability with a strong sense of project ownership.  Able to delegate without authority and holds others accountable to keep project on track.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to take ambiguous and complex ideas and breaks them down to manageable tasks for the team.
  • Develop detailed project plan using Microsoft Project.
  • Chair project team meetings/maintain minutes and action items.
  • Recruit and indirectly manage staff for timely completion of tasks per plan.
  • Initiate and chair key meetings for status updates, design reviews and milestone reviews.
  • Calculate and report budget and costs. Meet budget and schedule targets.
  • Publish program reports (Scorecards). Prepare internal and external reports without direct supervision.
  • Publish and effectively manage critical issues.
  • Prepare and present internal presentations to the project team and ABIOMED executives.
  • Resulting work output is consistent with quality targets
  • Draw conclusions from analysis/tests and identify/report implications.
  • Balance project risk vs. rewards to ensure meeting business needs




Skills/Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • BS or advanced degree in engineering or scientific discipline, MBA or MS desired.
  • 10 or more years of work experience in engineering and as a technical or project leader. Medical device experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean, six sigma, kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.  Green Belt preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing engineering tasks to complete projects
  • Familiar with project management terms and concepts
  • Ability to Communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written) within the internal project team
  • Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision.
  • Able to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of SAP desired.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required
