The Impella Training Manager, Japan will report to the Director of Commercial Operations, Japan with a dotted line to the Director of Advanced Clinical Applications. This role is responsible to design, plan, deliver and monitor the product specific training programs to the clinical support team. The goal is to assure that our clinical support team performs at the highest levels of proficiency, in order to assure safe and effective application of our company’s products and services. Additional duties will include supporting the activities associated around our corporate based initiatives for external training and education, new product introductions and focused customer training/clinical support for trials and first-in-man (FIM) programs as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead in establishing the training and competency requirements for Abiomed and distributor employees who “support cases” and train customers.
Participate in the Train – the – trainer process and to act as preceptor and coach to Abiomed and distributor field team members.
Develop and manage in house processes, including certification, to track required training and status of Abiomed and distributor field team members who are engaged in customer training and support.
Plan and organize product specific training in coordination with new product introduction, product updates, and customer identified training needs.
Contribute to the design and production of material and programs used in customer training.
Contribute, review, and identify areas of improvement in the ongoing efforts to make the product instructions and support material a valuable resource tool.
Manage Daily operations of the Abiomed Emergency Call Center (ECC), including managing the on-call schedule, training of new on-call center clinical consultants and managing outside support vendors.
Support trade shows and patient support in trials and FIM.
Skills/Requirements
BS degree, preference in Nursing, Engineering or other clinical discipline, such as Perfusionist.
At least 5 years of related experience in the Bio-technology industry or Clinical experience with emphasis in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology.
Demonstrated experience in designing and delivery of corporate / hospital training programs.
Must possess a passion for training & education and be recognized as a “clinical expert”.
Must have strong project management and leadership skills.
Must have strong interpersonal, coaching and motivational skills.
Must be a Self-reliant; takes initiative; results-oriented, open minded and approachable.
Ability to influence all levels of management and employees.

Fluent in Japanese and business level English language with strong communication skills
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of SAP desired.
