Job Description

The Aquatics Instructional Assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety of students using pool amenities and assisting students and teachers during learn-to-swim programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

?      Support aquatics instructional program including P.E. swim classes, lifeguarding classes, and in-service training

?      Maintain high quality, safety, and care standards

?      Preform daily aquatics activity planning and supervision

?      Assist in swim instruction varying in age and level of ability and ensure the safety of students during P.E. swim classes

?      Monitor group evaluation for advancement and ensure clear communication to students

?      Provide direction to students on water safety and pool rules

?      Assist Lifeguards in enforcing pool rules and promoting water safety

?      Guide and monitor students in using pool/exercise equipment and instructional materials

?      Help maintain equipment and activity reports

?      Assist in responding to aquatic emergencies

?      Report any incidents or emergencies immediately to the Aquatics Coordinator

?      Make decisions based on policy, procedures and standard operating instructions of ASD

?      Must work well as part of a team.

?      Provide substitute coverage on a short-term basis as required

?      Assist in supervising lifeguards and coordinating lifeguard schedules

?      Assist Aquatics Coordinator in developing general instructional objectives

?      Liaise with the Aquatics Coordinator in implementing Aquatic programs

Required Qualifications:

?      Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

?      First-aid/CPR/AED Certification

?      Pool Lifeguarding Certification or equivalent

?       English speaker with exceptional verbal and written communication skills

?      Great organizational and time management skills

?      Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and communication abilities

?      Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

?      Water Safety Instructor or equivalent

?      Swim Coach Certification
