Job Description

Octo Consulting Group is seeking a SME Developer to join our growing team. The SME Developer resource will be the primary resource to perform the majority of the development support to provide the functionality identified by the user community, troubleshoot issues, and identify/fix anomalies. The selected candidate will have a Java-based background concentrating on the most recent versions of WebLogic.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide task-level estimates
  • Actively participate in project events
  • Provide alternative delivery options
  • Communicate issues and impediments to appropriate management personnel
  • Make commitments to the rest of the team regarding task completion
  • Will also provide operational support within the defined support hour




Skills/Requirements

  • 15 years of general experience with at least 10 years of specific experience
  • Be accustomed and comfortable working within a team-based agile environment that is centric to software development
  • Strong communication skills are required to communicate with team members, other OIT resources, stakeholders, and end users

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Java / J2EE / Weblogic
  • Working with one or more of the following databases technologies: PostgreSQL/ Oracle/ MongoDB/ JDBC and drivers
  • Agile Development
  • Java EE 
  • Familiarity with Modular Design and SOA concepts
Education: 
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field

  • TS/SCI w/poly

Location:

  • McLean, VA

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
  • Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time

 Work Environment:

  • Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area
  • The noise level in this environment is low to moderate
