Vice President of Training & Development

Based in Dallas, you will be directly accountable for all aspects of training within Velvet Taco. You will need to develop training and people development strategies in conjunction with the company's short and long term growth plans through collaboration with Company Executive Leadership to ensure successful new Velvet Taco Restaurant and people growth. You will also be directly responsible for managing the New Restaurant Opening and Talent Development Teams to meet their schedules and achieve their goals.

This leader must conceptualize, develop, drive and manage the training process as Velvet Taco grows new restaurants across the Country and develop world class talent throughout the entire organization. This newly created position is a cornerstone for the brand and will have the ability to create guiding brand principles, develop standards of performance and identify best practice training processes across all functions to establish high standards as a building block for one of the hottest concepts in the industry. Velvet Taco was named one of Nation’s Restaurant News Hot Concepts in 2016 and is poised for aggressive growth in new and existing markets.

 

This newly created role is a member of the Senior Management Team and will be asked to participate in company-wide initiatives and leadership meetings beyond normal traditional duties.

Duties Include: 

  • Conceptualize, develop, and drive training and learning initiatives, programs, policies and procedures from inception to end.
  • Assess best industry practices and develop training organization from both an organizational and talent perspective. Develop materials and build the team to effectively support all training needs.
  • Build and lead an industry leading training department that ensures Velvet Taco is developing leaders required for today and the future as we continue to grow.
  • Translate growth and development plans into a clear strategy that builds competitive skills and capabilities around New Restaurant Opening training and restaurant leadership development.
  • Create training plans and business solutions that align with all organizational strategies, participate as organizational leader.
  • Work closely with the President and Senior Management team to anticipate, design, and deliver solutions to build skills and capabilities that will create an “Industry Leading” training and development program.
  • Build and maintain programs that will allow world class leaders that will position the company for aggressive growth success.
  • Evaluate and report impact and effectiveness of internal and external leadership development programs.
  • Conduct analysis to determine impact of associate training on performance and report ROI.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8-10 years in a Learning & Development and/or Training role.
  • Preferred expertise in facilitation, training techniques and tools, instructional design and managing learning projects – digital experience a must.
  • Undergraduate degree required / Advanced degree preferred
  • Proven leadership skills with a strong ability to assess talent and build effective teams
  • Previous work in leading successful training and education programs across an organization.
  • Hands on ability to plan, organize, prioritize and effectively manage multiple complex projects concurrently within a fast-paced and growth environment.
  • Proven success in collaborative leadership and working with cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to create effective project management plans, timelines and organization processes.
  • Strong business acumen with results orientation to drive key business performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
