Cayman Chemical Company is a biomedical research company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Cayman helps make research possible by supplying scientists worldwide with biochemical tools used to understand cancer, neurochemistry, oxidative injury, endocrinology, atherosclerosis, and other human health challenges. We specialize in assay kits for the measurement of hormones and bio-markers. In addition, Cayman offers a broad range of specialty biochemicals used as research reagents and qualified standards. Cayman performs generic drug development and production in both Ann Arbor, Michigan and Neratovice, Czech Republic.

We are currently seeking candidates for a QC Chemist with the key duties and skills listed below: 

  • Conducts method development, material and final product qualifications ; working with moderate independence
  • Working knowledge in many analytical areas including wet chemistry, gas and liquid chromatography, IR and UV spectrometry.
  • Reports to management all data aberrations and participates in supervised investigations.
  • Responsible for entry of necessary data into database system, in a timely fashion.
  • General upkeep of the lab and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Keeps complete, legible, current, and accurate records of all weights, measures, techniques, and procedures followed or performed in a laboratory notebook or instrument logbook.
  • Reads scientific literature with accuracy and understanding; keyword articles as needed.
  • Observes safety, security, and regulatory procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, plans and procedures, including but not limited to safety, security and regulatory. 

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry 
  • 1 to 3 years experience 
  • A fundamental understanding of chemistry mechanisms and familiarity with modern analytical techniques for product purification and characterization are needed.  
  • Ability to interpret spectroscopic results, including NMR, Mass Spec, and IR, and the ability to analyze UV and HPLC data is a plus.  
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently.  
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to do general lab calculations are a must.
