Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The FH Regional Grant Projects Advisor will work with Project Managers and Directors to execute FH’s Child Focused Community Transformation (CFCT) program tools and quickly address and correct lags or gaps in planned project performance.  This position oversees project performance in eight operational countries through an online M&E system, regular reports and field visits.  The position requires a professional coaching approach that is fully engaged in assisting FH staff to complete the necessary work to global standards.  The position will also require coordination and facilitation of proposal development with field project staff and global technical specialists. 
 
POSITION/SCOPE WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION
  • This position reports directly and functionally to the Africa Regional Director; 
  • This position requires frequent travel (aprox 30%); 
  • This is an accompanied position.

Skills/Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Key Result #1 – Program Management Coaching and Compliance (60%).
  1. Per RD request, support the RD, the Regional Team, and Country Director to manage and follow up on operations in countries that are experiencing high levels of operational vulnerability either by local circumstances, dysfunctional leadership and team dynamics, or vacant leadership;
  2. Travel frequently to coordinate with country leaders and teams to assess local circumstances, recommend solutions to the RD, present to the RD for review and approval, and follow up on until is determined appropriate;
  3. Keep the RD informed at all times, and to whom the RD considers appropriate in the regional office and country level;
  4. Provide support to Field programmatic operations according to CFCT goals, grant objectives and deliverables, and donor requirements including budget agreements;
  5. Be compliant and guided by FH’s audit reports and recommendations, financial and procurement policies, and local laws;
  6. Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work;
  7. Coach Project Managers and Program Directors to higher levels of performance and compliance in Project Design, Project Management, the management of multiple projects;
  8. Coach Project Managers and Directors on the consistent integration of a Biblical Worldview and Spiritual Transformation for Staff and Communities;
  9. Coach the country management on integrating all of support services to enhance overall organizational performance (planning, accounting, HR, Logistics, Security, Communications, M&E, and IT).
Key Result #2 – Resource Development (30%).
  1. Assess and build the preparedness of supported Fields, especially in Emergency Responses, to contribute to fundraising (i.e. “Grant Readiness”).  This would include a systematic review and preparation of legal documents, supporting references and awards, project history registry, beneficiary priorities, former assessments and M&E data, donor profiles and country and sectoral strategies;
  2. Cultivate strong relationships with country and regional level teams and donors;
  3. Introduce and promote ongoing dialogue and relationships with FH technical specialists and external donors and relevant specialists;
  4. Prioritize the counties with the weakest capacity and participate actively to help them in writing new concept notes, grant proposals and budgets;
  5. Provide surge support for the assessment, design and start-up of Emergency Response Projects.
Key Result #3 – Representation of FH (10%).
  1. Backstop the Regional Director when (s)he is traveling or on leave;
  2. Enforce the integrity of the FH Vision, Mission and Values with strong spiritual leadership influence through team work in all his/her work;
  3. Enforce the principles of Duty of Care and Security and Safety Management in all fields to care for all FH staff;
  4. Conducts other duties as assigned by the Africa Regional Director;
  5. Timeliness of communication;
  6. Accuracy and Value for money of financial management;
  7. Compliance with FH Policies and Procedures for both Program Quality Standards and Support Services.  Special attention will be placed on: Security, Protection Communications and Project Activity Plan execution;
  8. Influence on building a culture of positive discipline, reconciliation and spiritual formation of staff teams.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function satisfactorily.   • A vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ;
  • 8 years of progressive experience in management of grant funded projects;
  • Fluent written and verbal English.  French, Swahili, Amharic, Arabic, or Portuguese are a plus;
  • Proven competency in Results Based Management;
  • Proven competency in Financial and People management;
  • Proven competency in Spiritual Leadership;
  • Proven competency in Time Management in the Field Context;
  • Proven competency in Proposal Writing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Master’s Degree in Project Management or Related Development Sector fields of Health, Education, Food Security, Livelihoods, DRR or Leadership Development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS Fluent written and verbal English.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  French, Swahili, Amharic, Arabic, or Portuguese are a plus.
