Full-time Job Announcement

Position: Vice President for External Affairs

Location: Athens Campus

Department: President’s Office

Reports to: President of Athens Technical College

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategic communications, marketing, and advertising plans for Athens Technical College and its Foundation and coordinates implementation of the plans with the President and/or senior management.
  • Directs the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive internal and external resource development plan for Athens Technical College.
  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with the Board of Trustees and external contacts to promote Athens Technical College.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Foundation Board of Trustees and providing timely and accurate information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Coordinates and manages fund raising activities for the Athens Technical College's foundation and alumni events.
  • Directs media relations efforts and manages press releases and press conferences.
  • Plan and coordinate advertising efforts to target enrollment growth through all forms of media.
  • Create, schedule, and monitor social media content.
  • Update website as needed.
  • Write scripts, assist with planning, coordinate photography for special college events.
  • Approve promotional items ordered campus wide to ensure the appropriate use of college logo or image.
  • Create banners, rack cards, and other graphic design needs to meet college-wide needs.
  • Responds to routine and more complex inquiries from students and the general public or directs them to the appropriate source.
  • Prepares the Athens Technical College's annual report on accomplishments for the year.
  • Conducts student surveys to determine best advertising methods to meet the target audience
  • Work as Athens Technical College Foundation liaison to the Foundation Board Members and the community.
  • Speaks to Boards, external organizations/groups and individuals to disseminate information and/or to promote good public relations regarding Athens Technical College and Athens Technical College foundation. 
  • Coordinates special events with the Director of Institutional Advancement to prepare marketing material, press packets, and releases in conjunction with events. 
  • Work to facilitate achievement of Foundation services, goals and objectives.
  • Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and adjusts as needed.
  • Serve as leader in coordinating project activities.
  • Plans and organizes task and work to meet the objectives of Athens Technical College and Athens Tech Foundation.
  • Coordinates daily workflow and handles complex departmental administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree *and* Seven (7) years of work-related experience *OR* Master’s degree *and* Three (3) years of work-related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within the Technical College System of Georgia.
  • Work experience with the Foundation and Public Relations.
