About the Position

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Therapist to join our dynamic team. The role involves developing effective treatment plans under physician referral, managing schedules in compliance with policies, and completing all required assessments for various Medicare clients. This position is integral in enhancing the quality of life for residents by improving their communication and swallowing abilities, ensuring a collaborative approach with a multidisciplinary team for optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Evaluations and Treatments: Conduct thorough assessments and provide treatment for residents to address losses in communication and swallowing abilities, ensuring adherence to Medicare guidelines and department policies.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with nursing staff, dietary department, and other therapy disciplines to coordinate and optimize the resident's treatment plan, enhancing recovery and quality of life.
  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain effective communication with physicians, nursing, and other team members about residents' progress, and ensure accurate documentation of treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Education and Involvement: Engage in educating families, caregivers, and health team members on compensatory strategies and diet changes, and participate in care plan meetings and discharge planning to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Billing and Productivity: Accurately maintain billing records for treatments and ensure a high level of productivity, with an expected billable rate of 82%, while maintaining flexibility to accommodate patient needs and departmental demands.

Job Requirements

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts degree from accredited college or university
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association
  • Current Virginia State Licensure
  • CPR certified (adult only)
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with clients, family members, and caregivers
