Job Description

Seeking a motivated mechanical engineer with 2+ years of technical experience to join a team responsible for designing equipment for U.S. Navy submarines. Projects include a wide range of ruggedized submarine equipment, including unmanned undersea vehicles, propulsion systems and hardened electronics systems. The team is responsible for taking designs from initial concept development, through build and test, and into production. Candidates should have basic engineering design knowledge as well as the ability to apply engineering principles to new technical problems. Successful candidates will be detail oriented, reliable, and capable of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Duties and Responsibilities 

Design and analyze components and electro-mechanical assemblies 
Create and maintain mechanical solid models and drawings using SolidWorks
Create and manage bills of material (BOM) within Progeny’s data management system
Develop fixtures and equipment to support testing and production efforts
Develop and present PowerPoint slides documenting design progress
Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis





Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong problem solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
Experience with SolidWorks product suite
Experience developing detailed designs of mechanical systems
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
Strong documentation and communication skills
Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging a plus
Familiarity with Navy environmental qualification test standards a plus
Ability to perform structural and thermal analyses (FEA) on components and systems a plus

 

Education/Experience

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree
2+ years mechanical engineering experience

 

 

 

This position may require the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
