Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia, seeks a part-time Evening Distance Education Specialist is responsible to the Dean of General Education and Online Learning (GEOL) for assisting students and faculty through online learning and the Center for Teaching and Learning helpdesk.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Applicant must be available in afternoon and evening hours, possibly including flexible weekend hours
  • Resolves e-mail password-reset issues using the college’s Active Directory for password resets procedures
  • Resolves CTL helpdesk ticket requests for students, faculty and staff during evening and possibly flexible weekend hours
  • Provides college-wide technical assistance to students, instructional staff and others involved with program specific technology;
  • Inventories, orders, and maintains the college’s audio/visual equipment to include projects, TV monitors, and audio systems maintained by the Center for Teaching and Learning.
  • Check out/in and maintain reservation system for instructional design tools: (3D printer, 3D projectors, digital SLR and video cameras, wireless microphones, studio lighting, plotter printer, GoPros)
  • Troubleshoot Blackboard and third party LMS problems and communicate solutions
  • Create and run database files for course and user creation, course enrollment, as well as manage course availability as needed in the CTL helpdesk requests
  • Develop print and web-ready training materials for Blackboard and for equipment in CTL
  • Create announcements in Blackboard portal page, update content in e-learning portal page, ensure content is up-to-date in Athens Technical College General Education and Online Learning website

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field *and* Three (3) years of related work experience

      Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • Knowledge of multi-media technologies
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Team building skills
  • Oral and written communication skills

     

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicant must be available in afternoon and evening hours, possibly including flexible weekend hours
  • Experience with Blackboard Learning Management System
  • Experience with in a technical college setting with Blackboard LMS Knowledge of internet and networking technologies including, but not limited to, Blackboard LMS, Excel, ADA Compliance Tools, and Active Directory Password Tools
