Full Time position working out of Progeny Systems (www.progeny.net) headquartered in Manassas, VA. Candidate will work on Naval Programs, developing middleware improvements for a System of Systems (SoS), as well as taking a critical role in a major re-architecture effort for the next generation of this architecture. 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for all phases of software engineering, including architecture design &review, software design, development and documentation, assisting I&T teams and supporting the Chief Engineer in all related efforts.  Candidate should have significant development expertise across the development life cycle and technical leadership proficiency, including architectural expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Technical leadership and software development in concert with the Chief Engineer
• Design, development, testing and delivery of software artifacts in support of customer requirements
• Leadership in and contributions to the next design of the SoS architecture. 
• Participation in the software engineering life cycle, from requirements gathering, analysis and documentation to government support and maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

• Ability to communication project vision, scope and technical  details with other technical team members
• Knowledge of and experience using C (7+ years)
• Knowledge of and experience using Linux (shell scripting  and command line expertise), preferably Red Hat or derivatives
• Knowledge of and experience using message-oriented middleware
•  Desire to work within the entire software engineering life cycle                                                                                
•  A quick learner and adaptable to new technologies                                              
•  Good oral and written communication skills

Desired:

• Experience working with AMQP, including broker configuration
• Experience working with Multipurpose Transportable Middleware (MTM)
• Knowledge of and experience working in and configuring virtualized/containerized environments such as ESXi, KVM, Xen, and Docker

Education/Experience

Bachelors of Computer Science or similar degree

7-20 years of professional experience. Commensurate pay for years of experience

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
