Job Description

Undergraduate Peer-Tutors are employed to provide individualized assistance to Friends University students. Peer-Tutors are expected to encourage students to develop the academic skills neccesary to be effective, efficient, and confident in all academic and professional environments. Some of the subject areas in which Peer-Tutors focus are: writing, math, science, accounting, finance, music theory, computer science, religion, and Spanish.

Peer-Tutors work one-on-one with students, lead study sessions, attend monthly training in-services for certification, and help with the day-to-day operations of the Academic Resource Center.



Content competency (to be determined by faculty) and good interpersonal and communication skills (to be determined by ARC Director) are required.

 

Recommendation from a faculty member in the subject area for which applicant is applying is required.

 

Applicants will be required to interview with the Academic Resource Center director. Once applications are received and reviewed, the ARC will contact the applicant to schedule an interview.

 

The ARC will be open 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, and 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday; work hours during these times are flexible.
