Job Description

Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty member to serve as Chair of the Division of Education beginning in Fall 2019.  This position is a tenure-track, twelve-month faculty appointment and reports to the Dean of the College of Business, Arts, Sciences, and Education.  The Division of Education is one of six providers currently accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) in the state of Kansas and has held continuous national accreditation since the inception of national accreditation in 1954. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial academic leader who will bring a vision for continued development of the Division of Education in order to meet the growing need for teachers in Kansas and the surrounding region.

EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as Division Chair and Unit Head (entails a one-half load release for administrative responsibilities)
  • Teach 6 credits per semester (i.e, one-half teaching load)
  • Maintain current Education Program Provider accreditation with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)
  • Ensure compliance with Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) standards for multiple programs housed within the Division of Education




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in education and have significant experience as a certified K-12 teacher and as a university faculty member. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of higher education leadership experience in a position such as division chair, department chair, or program director.  Demonstrated success in new program development and fostering growth of existing programs. Experience with CAEP accreditation and national or state-level program review.

Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
