Job Description

Friends University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Managerial Accounting.  The candidate must be able to teach adult undergraduate students of the Prairie Band Nation.  Location: North of Topeka Kansas.  Thursday classes, 6-10 pm for fall 2018.

An accounting degree provides graduates with a challenging career path clearly pointed toward growth and opportunity. The accounting major can work for companies that range in size from a sole practitioner to small partnerships to international firms. Opportunities for employment exist within both the private and public sectors. Accounting careers include jobs involving extensive interpersonal contact and those involving very little. Other careers could be in the fields of financial planning and investment analysis.

Accounting graduates who take positions with industry and not-for-profit organizations work as part of the management team providing information for decision support and performance evaluation. Accountants can also work within organizations specializing in tax reporting and planning.

It is recognized that students desiring to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) must complete 150 credits and a specified set of courses. In most cases students working toward meeting the CPA requirements will combine a 124 credit undergraduate degree with a graduate degree program, a second degree or additional hours leading to a certification. To sit for the CPA examination, a student needs all courses in this Accounting program along with two additional courses, including production management and an advanced law course.

This course emphasizes accounting information to assist management in conducting and controlling daily operations, decision-making and planning future operations.  Students will gain an appreciation for the uses of managerial accounting information in the business environment, and develop the foundation to understand all accounting related concepts during the curriculum.

Required:

Master's in Accounting

Business-related field acceptable IF an additional 18 hours in accounting courses have been completed.
