Job Description

The Director of Production Operations plans, coordinates, directs and monitors production tasking across several functional areas including assembly, test, materials handling/warehousing and quality assurance.  The Director of Production Operations works closely with supply chain management to establish material needs and resolve supply chain issues affecting the operation.  This position is also responsible for establishing operational priorities and performance goals while working with senior leadership to ensure that contractual requirements are met on time and within budget.  Additionally, the Head of Manufacturing Operations is chartered with process improvement and is expected to leverage industry best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to further the state of the manufacturing operation. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Coordinates and oversees the overall day to day operations of a low-to-mid volume, high complexity electronics manufacturing organization.
  • Provides operational direction to personnel responsible for quality assurance, materials management, production assembly, and production test.
  • Develops strategies to evolve the manufacturing organization in a manner consistent with company objectives.
  • Leads efforts to conduct process and system analysis for on-going continuous improvement initiatives and establishes regular progress reporting for self-assessments.
  • Establishes production-related operational goals and leverages his/her own competencies to determine the best and most efficient use of available resources, including facilities, equipment and personnel to meet or exceed goals.
  • Monitors the progress of production activities while ensuring that multiple concurrent product lines satisfy contractual schedule and financial obligations for several different customers.
  • Works with leaders throughout the company to establish and execute production programs across a variety of different product lines each with unique demands and requirements.
  • Lead for planning and transitioning of products from engineering development stage to production readiness.
  • Interfaces with key customers and customer representatives. 
  • Generates written and oral reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Works with organizational leadership to secure facility services and equipment as required to ensure that all operational needs are met. 




Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment.Related operational, engineering and/or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various electronic/integrated electronic assembly manufacturing techniques, common industry standards, manufacturing operational concepts and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven leadership in challenging environments with a track record of driving continuous improvement.
  • Customer focused, goal-oriented mindset with an aptitude for applying innovative solutions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of organization.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and experience with ERP/MRP tools.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in an engineering / technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field or related area. Additional experience may substitute for degree requirement.  An advanced degree may substitute for minimum required years of experience.

This position require the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
