Job Description

Do you enjoy working in a technical, fast-paced, exciting environment with smart, talented people?  Do you like looking for ways to improve a process and documenting results?  As the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) you would incorporate aspects of software engineering and apply that to IT operations problems. The main goals are to create ultra-scalable and highly reliable software systems.

You will have the opportunity to assist on important and exciting projects, work closely with the team, and learn from team members and other project leads.  You will play a key role in coordinating complex project schedules and project plans that support high priority initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage Information:  Maintain database and provide reporting for review. Develop metrics for areas of responsibility. Share data/information collected with stakeholders.
  • Project Coordination:  Identify risks to on-time, on-budget performance within scope of responsibilities, handle logistics for demonstrations and field support exercises.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Processes:  Ensure the established/approved processes for work stream are being followed and improved as business requirements change.
  • Track milestones and deliverables based on the strategic and communications plans.
  • Drive Process Improvements: Identify and implement improvements to work processes. Create, document and distribute reports to stakeholders.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Calendar management, email management, customer contact management, scheduling meetings, coordinate team and departmental events




Skills/Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Extremely comfortable with Python
  • Extremely comfortable with Linux / building packages 
  • Experience with Docker / virtualization
  • Experience in C++, especially as it relates to building packages
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel and Visio
  • Skilled in Technical Writing and Documentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently or be a collaborative team player
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Proficient in interfacing with engineers, management, and stakeholders

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with package management systems (e.g., apt, rpm)
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins)

Education/Experience

  • Associates Degree (min, BS/BA preferred) in business, engineering or management
  • 1+ years Process Management experience (Technical environment preferred)
  • 2+ year Project Coordination or Scheduling experience
  • Interested in or currently pursuing PMP Certification 

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
