Job Description

Friends University is seeking to fill an Admissions Counselor position in Wichita, KS. This position recruits new students for traditional undergraduate programs. Represents the University at high school visits, college fairs, etc. Plays a critical role in student and family visits to the campus and additional events.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits students by communicating via phone, email, text, social networking and in person and/or visiting with counselors, teachers and coaches at high schools and community colleges.  Travels to high schools and community colleges in and out of the state of Kansas.  Attends recruiting fairs and other off-campus events.   Assists walk-in student inquiries by providing information regarding admissions, financial aid, payment of account, and other institutional and student information. Provides follow-up communication to prospective students either by phone, written correspondence, or in person to ensure student enrollment.
  • Arranges campus visits for parents, prospective students including international students and presents information regarding admissions, financial aid, payment of account, and other institutional and student information. 
  • Arranges and hosts special events for the recruitment of students including, but not limited to, My Senior Day, Friday with Friends, and Scholarship receptions.  May assist with producing, and printing of recruiting materials for special events or campus visits
  • Arrange faculty advising for individual enrollments.
  • Attends staff and division meetings and assists division with interview process for admissions positions.  Attends external meetings, seminars and/or conferences as requested or required.




Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Well-developed public speaking, presentation, communication and organizational skills.  Professional work experience in sales/promotion/public relations or related field preferred with the proven ability to meet goals.  Knowledge of Microsoft environments including Word and Excel required. 
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.  Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner is required. 
  • Knowledge of SCT Banner helpful.  Bilingual in English-Spanish is a plus.
