Job Description

Friends University is seeking to fill a Coordinator Residential Development position in Wichita, KS. This position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and developmental educational opportunities within the residential communities.  It is a requirement of this position to live in University housing and eat in the Casado dining room.

Responsibilities

Assists in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of 12 resident assistants and 2 senior resident assistants.  This includes on-going mentoring and supervision throughout the academic year.

Develops, organizes, and plans educational and social programs for residents- independently and in coordination with other residence life staff.

Provides support, counsel and referrals to residential students.  This includes but is not limited to:  responding to early alert reports, intervention in “crisis” situations, mediation, and serving as the initial contact in the adjudication of violations of the student code of conduct.

Serves as a member of the “after-hours” emergency response rotation.  Monitors student conduct and implements Residence Life policies and procedures.

Responsible for the day-to-day management of residential facilities including but not limited to:  addressing maintenance and safety concerns, maintaining up-to-date residential files and rosters, and facilitation of building openings and closings.  Provides support and customer service to all external groups.

This position will supervise all resident assistants assigned to the hall.

Work hours are 9:00am to 4:30 pm.  Additional hours will be required on weekends/evenings throughout the year. Will be required to provide on-call coverage during university closures.  While on-call must maintain a close proximity to campus which cannot exceed 15 miles.





Must have experience organizing, supervising, and working with student groups and staff members, and have a working knowledge of college student development theories and counseling skills.  In addition, managerial, administrative, and human relations skills are necessary.  Computer proficiency required (MS Office products preferred). 

A bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a human service field (psychology, social work, education, etc.)

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
