Job Description

Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Biology, to begin in August 2018.  This position is a tenure-track, nine-month appointment and reports to the Chair of the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics.  The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in organismal biology, with a specialization involving vertebrates.  Priority will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience.  Review of applicants begins December 1, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled.

EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach biology courses for undergraduate students in the Field Biology (General Biology) and Zoo Science majors
  • Teach specialization courses related to candidate’s discipline (for example, vertebrate zoology, ecology, ornithology, evolution, mammalogy, etc.)
  • Teach non-major general education courses
  • Oversee laboratory courses, including purchasing supplies and setting up laboratories
  • Advise Field Biology and Zoo Science majors
  • Involve students in research projects and field trips




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. in Organismal Biology

Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.

Positive consideration will be given to evidence of research, the demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships, practical experience in the field, and experience in multicultural settings.
