Job Description

Seeking an Associate Scientist I in our GMP & Process Chemistry division. Candidates must be highly motivated, extremely well organized, and capable of working in a high pace environment.

 

  • Performs essential duties outlined by individual departments.  For example:  Routinely synthesizes compounds to meet production demands, purifies synthesized compounds, works with milli- to kilogram quantities, etc
  • Within this position an employee may hold specialized essential duties within the functions of the respective department.
  • Conducts GMP responsibilities as needed, with close supervision.
  • Responsible for entry of necessary data into database system, in a timely fashion.
  • General upkeep of the lab and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Keeps complete, legible, current, and accurate records of all weights, measures, techniques, and procedures followed or performed in a laboratory notebook.
  • Prepares and maintains Laboratory Standard Protocols.
  • Reports status of work to supervisor regularly, i.e. weekly updates, monthly report, etc.
  • May assist in the purchasing of raw materials.
  • Observes safety, security, and regulatory procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, plans and procedures, including but not limited to safety, security and regulatory.




Skills/Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry
  • 2 years of relevant lab experience
  • A fundamental understanding of chemistry mechanisms and familiarity with modern analytical techniques for product purification and characterization needed
  • Must be able to work on production and/or R&D projects with moderate independence
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work in a structured environment, under guidance and supervision. 
  •  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and identify and resolve problems with guidance in a timely manner. 
  • Strong computer skills are essential. 
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and assist in job duties desired.
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to do general lab calculations
  • Able to interpret spectroscopic results, including NMR, Mass Spec, IR, UV and HPLC data
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations
  • Proficient in chemistry related software, i.e. ChemDraw.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting of bulk chemicals and solutions required.
  • Standing for long periods of time expected.
  • Cleaning of large-scale equipment required.
