Based on a set of requirements and desired capabilities for software recommend the most appropriate COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software products to fulfill those capabilities.
Determine hardware and software dependencies for COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software that will be used within a larger software architecture. Based on these dependencies, plan for appropriate software integration activities so that the COTS/GOTS/OSS in question can be integrated with as little risk and effort as possible within a classified laboratory environment.
Lead a team of engineers to perform installations and checkout of COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software that will be used within a larger software architecture. The installations will be performed within a classified laboratory environment in Manassas, VA.
Perform testing and validation on COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software that will be used within a larger software architecture, based on documented requirements for the software in question. Note that the some requirements will be functional in nature, while other requirements will stipulate adherence to design objectives such as the exposure of specific software APIs.
Support planning and development of automated tests, using a Government-provided test suite, for COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software to verify functionality exposed by a specific set of software APIs.
Document and coordinate the review of software issues and desired enhancements for COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software that is integrated and tested within a larger software architecture.
Review and provide input to UML software models which articulate the functionality and software interfaces to be exposed by COTS, GOTS, or Open Source software to be used within a larger software architecture.
Required: Familiarity and experience with the design of complex software systems using UML;
Required: Familiarity and experience with the installation and trouble-shooting of 3rdparty software products.
Required: Familiarity and experience with performing testing on 3rdparty software products.
Required: Familiarity and experience with the review and feedback of detailed software requirements specification.
Required: Experience with performing trade studies or other evaluations of 3rdparty software, based on a set of documented criteria.
Desired: Familiarity and experience with maintaining classified laboratory systems, including procedures for changing the software configuration of such systems.
Desired: Familiarity and experience with managing a Configuration Control Board (CCB) to disposition software bugs and enhancement requests.
Desired: Familiarity and experience with DoD software architecture efforts such as the Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES), or Afloat Core Services (ACS).
