The Intern joining our team will be pursuing a graduate program in Accounting and will offer some new perspectives to our current clients.  The intern will also be part of growing a new line of business in accounting advisory services which means the intern will be visiting current clients and accompanying the Accounting team in providing compliance reviews, and full audits of client’s Finances. 

This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Finance can play in a non-profit setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of accounting.

The Accounting Intern will learn the practical application of:

·       Assisting Accountants with financial analysis of actual projected expenses

·       Assisting with account payables and receivables

·       Assisting with audit preparation

·       Completing miscellaneous, special projects as needed

·       Accounting software conversion and/or implementation

·       Learning multiple accounting software packages but predominately QuickBooks

·       Learning about the Chart of Accounts set up

·       Entering invoices for accounts payable

·       Paying invoices, running checks, and making deposits

·       Program budgeting

·       Exposure to grant reporting depending on client assigned

·       Client relationship building – intern will be exposed to client staff at various levels

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

·         Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Accounting, or non-profit management/administrative fields

·         Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications

Physical Demand:

·         Required to walk to and from main office to clients' offices.  Required to carry a laptop and files to and from clients' offices.

Hours:

·         9am-5pm, at least 2 days/week.  The length of the internship is flexible.

Compensation:

·         $15/hour
