Job Description

This position's primary responsibility is the maintenance and support of the University's Banner ERP system. Researches, codes, tests, documents, implements, installs, maintains and supports computer programs or software applications related to the university's information systems utilizing programming tools, reporting tools, database tools or third party supplied tools; applies knowledge of university business processes, software applications, computer programs and user input to projects to best meet university needs including, but not limited to, the university ERP system. This can include custom interfaces between various systems, websites, portals and other platforms for the delivery of information to students, faculty, staff and administration. Assists in analyzing individual and departmental needs to determine project feasibility and time requirements. Attends meetings as related to the administrative computing systems, both internal and with end-users as a group and individually. Provides documentation and training to the campus community as needed.

Candidates selected for interview must demonstrate their ability to:

  • Keep up with changes in software development tools and techniques, programming languages, web development, and vendor supplied information systems for higher education.
  • Support the mission, tenets and purposes of Friends University.
  • Work as a team member in the Administration and Finance department.
  • Respond to all students, faculty, staff and guests of the University with appropriate character.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with other members of the IT team to resolve problems and assist community members.
  • Adhere to institutional and departmental standards, policies and procedures to maintain consistency, data integrity, and security.

Candidates selected for interview MUST possess:

  • Programming experience with Oracle or other relational database
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates with these skills will receive priority:

  • Knowledge of SQL, web-based programming and report-writing tools
  • Ability to write and debug SQL statements, stored procedures and triggers
  • Experience with data conversions, web-based programming and report-writing tools
  • Linux/UNIX and Windows server experience
  • Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Higher education and Banner ERP experience
  • Experience with accounting, finance and/or HRIS systems
