Job Description

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Strategic: • Lead the organization in the areas of talent management, workforce planning, Human Resource strategic planning, employee engagement growth, benefit plan negotiation and planning, compensation planning and leadership development.

Managerial: • Oversee Human Resources Department to ensure that organizational goals are met. • Consult with and advise managers about employee disciplinary actions and dispute resolution. • Consult with senior management about organizational policy. • Responsible for the oversight of: • Personnel performance evaluations. • Maintenance and update of job descriptions • Annual review of the personnel policy manual. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or senior management.

Recruiting & On-Boarding: • Discusses personnel needs with department supervisors to prepare and implement recruitment program. • Recruits, interviews, and provides information about the company and job opportunities to upper level candidates. • Screens and refers qualified applicants to hiring managers for follow up interview. • Supervises the process of performing reference and background checks on applicants. • Supervises the new employee orientation process to foster positive attitude toward MnTC goals. • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons for separation.  

Legal & Record Keeping: • Writes directives advising department managers of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, employee benefits and information in the Personnel Policies Manual. • Consults with legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with state law. • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization, including the: • Record keeping of hires, promotions, transfers, evaluations, attendance and terminations. • Updating of employee files to document and provide information for payroll and other uses. • Examination of employee files to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons. • Employee separation notices and related documentation.

Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate degree; PHR/SPHR certication preferred • Documented seven years work experience in a Human Resources related function. • Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices. • Ability to screen applicants for fitness for ministry and non-ministry positions. • Excellent written and verbal skills. • Ability to manage people and processes to achieve organizational goals. • Ability to learn various software programs to meet the needs of the organization. • Ability to remain on task and follow through projects to their completion. • Very well organized. • Maintain professional standards of conduct and appearance with co-workers and the public. • Ability to successfully complete background check process. • Ability to model a lifestyle that is in compliance with Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge’s Code of Conduct
