Job Description

The OSP Engineer performs all aspects of OSP engineering for copper and fiber projects and will be heavily involved in activities including the following:

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Development of OSP planning/design documentation, plans and specification assembly.
  • Special drawings/plant records, construction management documentation and any other duties to ensure projects are completed successfully.
  • FTTH or GPON experience.
  • The OSP will meet or exceed business unit goals while maintaining quality standards, controlling expenses and following company and business unit directives and practices.
  • The successful candidate must meet a majority of the knowledge skills, competencies and experience requirements outlined below.
  • Design, provision, document and direct Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried) and manhole and conduit design.
  • Completes designs in accordance to customer specifications and guidelines.
  • Ensures the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.
  • Update customer records.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health and safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills:

Education, Experience, Qualifications and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, a technical discipline or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Minimum 3 years OSP Engineering experience.
  • Need strong Micro Station experience.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications network design principals and processes.
  • Experience in GPON or Fiber to the Home (FTTH).
  • "IMAGE" experience a huge plus - but not required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
