Job Description

The Inventory Clerk – Fuels Division - is primarily responsible for ensuring that the inventory for the division is properly balanced in a complete, timely and accurate manner.


  • Responsible for assisting the Inventory Manager in overseeing all aspects of balancing and reporting on the Fuels division’s fuel inventory
  • Ensure all inventory activity is properly balanced in the ERP system to quantities on-hand
  • Communicate effectively with other areas of company, including sales, customer service, credit, dispatch, operations and management to ensure a smooth and dependable process
  • Provide division management and outside users with financial and operational information to assist them in making key financial decisions
  • Assist the Fuels accounting team with standardizing and streamlining processes
  • Document processes
  • Standardize procedures
  • Implement new processes in the division’s ERP system
  • Assist finance team with monthly and year-end financial close and reporting, as well as daily reporting to customers and weekly reporting to the Dept. of Energy
  • Prepare and review journal entries
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations
  • Prepare and review audit work papers, assist with various audits


Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory control or staff accountant

Knowledge and Skills related

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Team player
  • Sound understanding of the reconciliation of inventory business processes and internal controls
  • Strong Excel skills
