As Product Manager – User Experience, you will guide teams charged with product line contribution as a business unit to continually improve the usability, design, and overall experience of Aptean offerings, including web applications, mobile applications, and other products and services. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products utilizing your unique skills to developing new UI designs for multiple products for the company. You will build solutions from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.

You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with other product line managers and engineering counterparts to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for the BI/Analytics offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create deliverables for the entire design process, including information architecture, interface design, interaction design, and prototyping
  •  Strategy in design and process across multiple platforms and products
  •  Identify, establish and promote UX best practices, including templates
  •  Identify, collect, and analyze data to inform user experience decisions, including web metrics, customer support data, and other sources
  •  Design and conduct usability-related research including usability testing, card sorting, and other approaches as needed
  • Monitor and apply relevant UX trends to stays ahead mobile OS advancements
  •  Work with product management, development and other teams in development of design and adhering best practices
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
  •  Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
  • Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product.
  • Managing the Product Leadership Team with representatives from development, support, consulting and sales to prioritize customer issues, sales opportunities and other resource requests

Skills & Requirements

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
 

  • Degree in Human Computer Interaction or Design/Media Production or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to balance rich creativity with pragmatic engineering
  •  Experience in architecting and implementing well-adopted responsive websites (with portfolio/examples) with native mobile interfaces
  • Building websites that maintain feature parity across smart phone, tablet, & desktop browsers
  • Ability to take market trends, customer feedback, sales feedback and competitive intelligence and break them down into well defined, concise market strategy plans and business requirements.
  • Experience in leveraging native phone features, while using HTML5 or hybrid approach to mobile development
  • Managed & delivered shared framework &/or development tools for use across web development projects
  • Built, contributed, or participated extensively in an open source project as core component of software product
  • Competence in creating modern user experiences (with portfolio/examples)
  • 2-3 years experience in technology Product Management; and/or...
  • 2-3 years experience as lead engineer/architect for large-scale web initiative
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (please be prepared to provide a portfolio of work)
  • Experience with enterprise software or business systems
  • Programming experience with JavaScript/CSS (HTML5) & core Java
  • Proven success in delivering HTML5-based mobile applications
  • Proficient in modern, multi-tenant cloud app architecture
  • Basic understanding of integration at all tiers, and experience implementing RESTful APIs & JSON
  • Self-starter; able to handle multiple threads/projects at any given time
  • This position may require travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America, Europe and Asia (>25%)

 

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with PhoneGap/Cordova & Sencha
  • Experience in building offline mobile apps using HTML5/JS
  • Basic understanding of SOA-based middleware technology
  • Programming experience with Microsoft technologies (.NET)
