9:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. with 1 hour lunch

Full Time – Hourly Employee Non-Exempt

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Devote full time to the business and affairs of Chase Plastics and to use your best efforts to perform faithfully and efficiently the responsibilities assigned to you. Responsible for being a team player that projects a positive attitude and is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, adhering to the Company Core Values as well as being proactive in all aspects of job responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Predictable and dependable attendance is required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures
  • Successfully complete a 90-day introductory period.
  • Works closely with Purchasing Department, Customer Service, Suppliers, and Carriers in coordinating movement of inbound, outbound and Direct Shipment material orders daily.
  • Provide outrageous service by ensuring timely delivery or materials to our customers while managing costs in the most effective manner.
  • Participate in Supply Chain Management initiatives as required
  • Communicate all carrier failures/delays to appropriate team members to ensure proactive communications with our customers
  • Manage Freight Costs and Carrier performance in accordance with company targets
  • Email/fax to carriers a BOL providing all pickup and delivery information.
  • Insure all paperwork is prepared and supplied to Carriers including Customs Documents, commercial Invoices, Shippers Export Declaration, and other documents
  • Obtain volume, bulk, rail, mutli-modal, expedite and international quotes as required.
  • Update Work Instructions for his/her job duties as needed.
  • Maintain all Logs as required - Inbound/Freight Transfers, Expedites, Blind Shipments, Direct Shipments, Carrier Failures, etc.
  • Perform Pro Number/Shipment Tracking.
  • Set up and coordinate International shipments with our forwarders / carriers
    • Obtain International quotes/rates based on information provided by Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales
  • Set up and coordinate Bulk Tanker Loads
  • Obtain Bulk Tanker quotes/rates based on information provided by Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales
  • Research and negotiate contracts with Bulk Tanker Companies
  • Obtain Rail quotes/rates based on information provided by Customer Service, Purchasing and Sales
  • Set up and coordinate Rail / Multi-Modal shipments
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Complete other tasks assigned by Freight & Logistics Manager

Skills & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS


A High School Diploma or GED is required. Minimum 2 years experience in Freight Logistics /Transportation Industry or equivalent operation. Organizational skills and ability to perform your responsibilities in a self-directed manner are essential.  Effective communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a team focused environment are required.  You will be expected to handle multiple tasks and will need to be able to deal with sudden influxes of tasks due to orders and changed orders by various circumstances.  Pleasant tone and professionalism on phone while answering customer questions and following up on inquires.  Knowledge of Microsoft Windows is necessary as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook.  Proficiency in task related duties is required within three months of the date of hire.  Accurate recordkeeping and attention to detail are required. On the job training will be provided over the first ninety days.
