Job Description

We are seeking Quality Assurance Technicians, specialized in Outside Planet Engineering (OSPE) responsible for ensuring compliance and uniformity during multiple phases of a large-scale Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) build. The incumbent is to provide accurate and effective quality assurance, customer reporting, and operational support by assisting with the continuous development of engineering policies, procedures, and training.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Perform quality reviews of all deliverables provided by fielding, drafting, and design teams
  • Provide daily support, expertise, and liaise with AFL employees, customers, and contractors throughout all phases of the Project.       
  • Develop, track, and maintain of quality metrics for each phase of the project.
  • Propose, document, and maintain continual process improvements to internal standard operating procedures and forms, construction and engineering bulletins, and training guides.
  • Propose strategies to avoid duplication of work, minimize processing times, and reduce cost.
  • Adherence to and promotion of the Canadian environmental, health & safety policies.
  • Performance of other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

 Work Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule of Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm with the flexibility to work extended hours. 

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years operational experience.

 Experience/Skills Required: 

  • GPON FTTP, FTTx, other Outside Plant Design
  • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details
  • Strong computer skills with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Special consideration will be given to candidates with intermediate skills with Microsoft Access)
  • Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve in even the most challenging environments with limited supervision.
  • Read and understand telecommunication network drawings
  • Knowledge to work with MicroStation or AutoCAD
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who is comfortable in a cross-functional, multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to clearly explain issues. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a stressful, time sensitive, ever-changing, and high tempo environment.
