As part of the IT organization, the PHP Suppoer Engineer has primary responsibilities for Safe-Guard clients (internal/external). The ideal candidate is a team player, enjoys working hard, exhibits professionalism, is dedicated to meeting and exceeding expectations, has excellent problem solving skills, is able to learn new technologies quickly and uses their time efficiently. The selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to write, speak and present technical information clearly and effectively; with composure and in command of every situation.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, evaluate and recommend short-term and long-term solutions to customer issues that have been identified as product development defects.
  • Provides application development support via email and phone
  • Track and maintain all client communications and cases in ticket management system
  • Deliver innovative solutions to complicated business problems.
  • Collaborate with other developers on your team.
  • Technical contributor to software projects.
  • Implement software products, enhancements, issue resolutions based on provided functional specifications.
  • Understand and keep up to date on the latest product functionality, its dependencies, the underlying technology stack and their operational impact
  • Monitor and manage back-end automated processes to ensure application uptime requirements
  • Work with a cross functional team to understand the root cause of issues reported and suggest alternate options where appropriate
  • Work with the Development team to create support tools and utilities to automate common tasks

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a PHP Developer or Support Engineer in an Enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting the installation, configuration, ongoing software deployments/ upgrades and troubleshooting and resolving complex Application issues.
  • Strong relational database skills are essential.  Should have written complex queries for a database such as MySql, Postgres, MSSQL or Oracle
  • Experience with shell scripting on UNIX platforms
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the one of following technologies: Java, Java Script, PHP, XML, API webservice
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience with job schedulers, monitoring tools and log processing tools
  • Working closely with the development team to continuously improve the automated claim reflow processes.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and escalate customer issues as required
  • Ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure with limited supervision
  • Solid understanding of Internet technologies: firewalls, web servers, web proxy servers, etc.
  • Demonstrated analysis, problem solving and skills troubleshooting expertise
  • Should enjoy researching challenging problems and suggesting solutions
  • Strong team player with good communication skills
  • Exposure to ITIL based change control management and process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Action oriented with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly adaptable, fast learner
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally on a global scale
  • Dependable, motivated, self-starter, with the ability to work independently
