Job Description

Working under limited supervision, maintains equipment & facilities to minimize breakdowns (particularly for production).  Performs all duties required to treat, calibrate, adjust, repair, and maintain electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.  Diagnoses, disassembles, cleans, repairs, and replaces defective parts of complex equipment.  Installs and maintains a broad range of equipment as well as electrical, air and water systems.  Performs facility maintenance on a preventative or emergency basis as required with a particular focus to maintain all work areas of the facility in a safe condition. 

 

Essential Functions/Job Requirements:

  • Repairs and maintains a range of production equipment that includes, but is not limited to electrical and electronic control systems.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance on all equipment, by cleaning, adjusting, repairing, calibrating and replacing parts.
  • Responsible for the installation of production equipment.
  • Responsible for repairs to building.
  • Assists in the establishment and execution of a preventive maintenance process.

 

Other Duties:

  • Maintains licenses/certifications and remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise.
  • Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.  Identifies and resolves maintenance issues; escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Performs related functions and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

 

Accountability/Supervision:

Working under limited supervision, ensures that facilities and equipment are maintained/serviced using the best methods available while considering the immediacy of need, cost and likelihood of future breakdown.  Preventative maintenance is done per manual or company documents or according to other commonly accepted method.  Accountable for ensuring that all work performed is done in a safe manner.  Does not require instructions for routine assignments, requires some general instructions for new or special assignments.  Takes initiative and assumes responsibility to improve work product and processes.      Can resolve most unusual nonstandard problems.  Utilizes knowledge and skills to accomplish work assignments that are performed in accordance with Company policy/procedures, requirements, and within specified parameters.  Works cooperatively as well as productively on assigned project teams.  Proactively identifies and shares opportunities, concerns, and solutions with co-workers.    Identifies the components of assigned projects and allocates time appropriately based on priorities.  Identifies relevant sources of information and utilizes them to make decisions.  Tracks performance against specific objectives; contributions affect team/organizational results.  Is accountable for identifying and routinely using the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

 

Skills & Requirements

Minimum Educational, Experience or Other/Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent.   
  • Typically a minimum of 3 plus years’ experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams
  • Must be detail oriented and have a strong desire to learn.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to upload, download and program AC & DC drive parameters
  • Ability to troubleshoot drive problems to board level
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor problems
  • Ability to program PLC’s
  • Ability to troubleshoot relay logic
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic controls
  • Basic mechanical skills
