2. GENERAL JOB SUMMARY (1 paragraph overview describing the primary function and focus of this position)

The Network Engineer will participate in the design, implementation, optimization, advance support and administration of network infrastructure residing in all Aptean offices and Data Centers. This person will oversee system performance, plan system capacity, ensure processes are well-documented, sustainable and scalable; and continually assesses processes for improvements.

Knowledge: A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.

Complexity: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

5. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List the key duties and responsibilities and essential functions of the role)

  1. Install, configure, and manage a highly available and secure network.
  2. Provide planning, installation, configuration, and upgrade support for LAN, WAN, and data center network.
  3. Support acquisition efforts by setting up and installing networks in acquisition offices.
  4. Establish and maintain service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor network implementations; and manage network alarms.
  5. Manage network monitoring system.Ensure all devices are being monitored.Respond to alarms.
  6. Secure network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  7. Provide support for on-call duties.
  8. Maximize infrastructure capacities through proactive review and planning to ensure that IT capacity meet current and future business requirements.
  9. Drive a cross functional team (including equipment or service vendors) in diagnosing issues and initiating appropriate actions for repair or mitigation and provide appropriate status, communications and root cause analysis to management.
  10. Serve as technical lead for escalation of advanced incidents, problems and change management.
  11. Help develop policies and procedures related to IT Operations Infrastructure.
  12. Research infrastructure solutions to identify and improve existing processes or enhance overall productivity.
  13. Lead teams in major projects and implementations, including project leadership, task assignments, and day-to-day direction.

Work Experience (Indicate the approximate years of relevant work experience necessary for this position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • 3 plusyears of experience supporting Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls in a large multisite (preferably global) enterprise network.
  • Demonstrated experience in design, deployment, administration, configuration, and integration of Cisco systems.

 

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls
  • Network monitoring tools, (SolarWinds)
  • Experience and familiarity with Cloud services and solutions a plus
  • Experience and familiarity with Forcepoint/Juniper/PaloAlto is a plus

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

1. Install, configure, and manage a highly available and scalable applications.

2. Provision and monitor staging/production applications/services.

3. Apply OS, application and hardware updates/patches.

4. Performs simple systems and database administration.

5. Write and maintain custom scripts (e.g. PowerShell, Pearl, java, VB, etc.) to install new settings or deployment, and remediate issues to support users

6. Manage the Office 365 interface with such technical tasks domains, security groups, users, and licenses. Create and administrate user and service accounts, AD group membership, and Exchange mailboxes

7. Maintain the settings for user mailboxes and e-mail, including the settings required for connectivity with Outlook.

8. Address client connectivity, client software distribution, and mobile installation issues in a hybrid model

9. Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current.

10. Serve as an on-call resource in support of the organization’s service model

11. Work in a highly matrixed environment

Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience preferred, but not required
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related. Typical range of experience is 2-6 years.

 

Knowledge

  • Advanced support and administration of Windows Server.
  • Advanced support and administration of Active Directory.
  • Experience with support and administration of Office 365.
  • Experience working with appropriate systems administration, SQL Server database administration, SQL Server Reporting Services, SharePoint, IIS, and landscape maintenance.
  • Experience working with company and client documentation.
  • Experience and familiarity with Cloud services and solutions a plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with Linux OS a plus.
