Job Description

Octo Consulting is looking for an experienced Database Specialist to support a federal customer in the Silver Spring, MD area. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide installation, configuration, upgrade, and migration services for all  database servers
  • Coordinates the data administration technical function for both data warehouse development and maintenance.
  • Facilitate change control, problem management, and communication among data architects, programmers, analysts, and engineers.
  • Establish and enforc processes to ensure a consistent, well managed, and well-integrated data warehouse infrastructure.
  • Analyze and identifiy data and metadata requirements.
  • Defines user requirements and database design specifications. Designs, implements, and supports data warehousing requirements.  Implements business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies
  • Provides product support and maintenance of the databases.
  • Performs database design and implementation.
  • Prepares/implements data verification and testing methods for the databases.
  • Provide Data Base Administrator (DBA) patch management support
  • Implement Database security to ensure authentication, authorization, and auditing occur in accordance with DoD and federal policy requirements
  • Provide Performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Conduct Troubleshooting as needed to provide problem resolution

Skills & Requirements

  • 3+ Years of experience
  • Certified in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M.
  • Experience with Oracle, MSFT SQL

Education: 

  • BS degree

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. US citizenship is mandatory, per contract clearance requirements. Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
