Octo Consulting Group is seeking a SharePoint Developer to join our growing team.  As a SharePoint Developer, you will be responsible for providing operations, maintenance, and enhancement of a Federal agency application built on SharePoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Address defects in customer applications.
  • Elicit requirements through facilitated requirements elicitation sessions.
  • Enhance customer applications to increase ease-of-use and functionality.
  • Monitor and provide maintenance of solution applications.
  • Perform platform/applications maintenance support, deploying sub-sites, site subscriptions, feature sets, applications, and services. 
  • Coordinate and support Agile Scrum activities as needed (e.g. spring planning, daily scrum, task estimation and retrospectives) in order to address defects and enhancements tracked within application product backlogs.
  • Capture and report on system metrics, such as page views.
  • Configure records management and content type.
  • Work with Business Analysts and the customer to understand technical requirements.
  • Provide accurate estimates of effort required to complete assignments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to translate system requirements into code.
  • Participate in solution design and concept visualization.
  • Design, develop, test and debug software solutions while following software development process, coding and configuration management standards.
  • Participate in defining user interfaces, gathering technical requirements, writing technical specifications and documentation.
  • Prepare and document user guides and related documentation.
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most effective software development approach.
  • Complete assignments according to the established deadlines.
  • Implement SharePoint-based workflows as well as development of Business Intelligence dashboards.

Skills & Requirements

  • Significant experience in software development in SharePoint.
  • Experience developing custom software.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT concepts and practices.
  • Understands the software development lifecycle and is familiar with more than one approach to software development.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate solutions effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong IT background with a deep understanding of application management, legacy system transformation, and agile/waterfall systems engineering
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error-free deliverables.
  • Must be motivated, independent and self-sufficient.
  • Able to receive an assigned task and see it through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a strong programming background authoring well written, well documented, modular and clean code.
  • Must be well organized, a good communicator, able to effectively prioritize tasks, and manage your projects from concept to production.
  • Must be able to write thorough and concise functional and design specifications as well as easily readable end-user documentation.
  • Must be well able to brainstorm with others, thrive in a collaborative team environment, multi-task, and quickly adapt to change.
  • Possess leadership skills and ability to be led in a manner that is healthy to our positive and productive work environment.

Other desired skills:

Education: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of SharePoint development experience  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related discipline.

Clearance: High-Risk level Public Trust requiring US citizenship with clean background and good credit standing

Location & Hours:

  • Onsite in Washington, DC during core business hours.
