Responsibilities:

  • Applies pension benefit expertise to provide strategic guidance to a federal customer seeking to more effectively align benefit administration, trustee practices, and organization structure with best practices, federal laws and regulations.
  • Reviews and analyzes changes to federal laws pertaining to pension benefits, and report necessary or suggested changes to management.
  • Meets with customers to discuss as-is pension administration practices and to-be requirements
  • Develops roles and responsibilities for a to-be state of pension administration
  • Research, identify, and informs customer of federal, state, local, and private sector pension administration best practices
  • Interprets appropriate policies (MOUs and SLAs) and pension fund regulations to provide internal policy guidance and to ensure adherence to governmental regulations.
  • Supports the development of a business case, including an analysis of alternatives, to help the customer select a to-be state for pension administration
  • Provides consultative expertise, advice, and guidance regarding benefits matters to the Project Manager to support contractual objectives.
  • Support the development of communications artifacts to facilitate proper communication to all government stakeholders.

Skills & Requirements

  • Working knowledge of pension fund requirements, rules and regulations as defined in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), the Employee Retiree Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and general knowledge of pension fund requirements, rules and regulations related to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities while paying special attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications

Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of professional experience with 2 or more multi-employer, Taft Hartley, defined benefit plans.
  • Working knowledge of pension fund requirements, rules and regulations as defined in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), the Employee Retiree Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and general knowledge of pension fund requirements, rules and regulations related to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC).
  • 3+ years of consulting/contracting experience within the federal government.

Clearance: US Citizenship required in order to obtain Public Trust clearance 

Education

Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of professional experience with 2 or more multi-employer defined benefit plans.

Locations: Washington, DC

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
  • Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time

Work Environment:

  • Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area
  • The noise level in this environment is low to moderate
