Octo is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to join our growing team!

Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to partner with our executive clients at Federal agencies to achieve business objectives through the development and execution of pragmatic technology solutions.  The Senior Solutions Architect is expected to develop a deep understanding of business and user needs and design applications and solutions that exceed expectations.  We are looking for someone that understands current technology solutions and can help clients push toward the new worlds of cloud, social and mobile.  More than just a strategic thinker, the Senior Solutions Architect must be able to translate design into execution and help manage solutions through design, development and deployment.

The Senior Cloud Architect is a technology expert who understands the strengths and weaknesses of platforms and solutions and serves as a trusted voice for our team and the client.  With client sponsorship, they develop relationships with IT and Program executives, putting them in position to translate business needs and insights into actionable IT strategy and assist engineering in driving these initiatives to early results and business value. This role requires a deep understanding of business and IT strategy, a disciplined approach to broader architectural challenges and opportunities, and a great grasp of technology and solutions. They will have deep expertise in cloud services and advise the Government on design best-practices.

The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in solutions architecture with demonstrated experience in cloud, mobile and web technologies.  Candidate must be organized and analytical, adept at working in a team environment, able to design and implement a project schedule, and able to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Cloud Architect will be responsible for technical review of applications, identifying migration strategy, and planning overall migration approach including target architecture. They will have deep expertise in cloud services and advise the Government on design best-practices.
  • Subject matter expert in all things cloud related
  • Working with clients to develop their cloud strategy and implement digital transformation of legacy IT

 

Skills & Requirements

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Industry certification in cloud technologies (AWS professional highly preferred)
  • Knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against financial & resource constraints
  • Experience with cloud enterprise solutions with working knowledge of cloud architectures
  • Ability to understand business requirements and converting them into solution designs
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and pragmatic approach to delivering software that optimizes architecture activities across company needs, business constraints and technological realities
  • Should have participated in, and be familiar with, Agile methodologies and practices
  • Considered an expert in a combination of database and platform application services is a plus
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
  • Preference will be given to candidates that also can build web applications, database, and support skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent preferred
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or MBA highly desirable

Active Secret Clearance is required
