Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Database Administrator to join our growing team.  


  • Perform highly complex duties in the development, installation, configuration, maintenance, tuning and administration of PeopleSoft systems version 9.2.
  • Contribute to the reliable and secure operation of the PeopleSoft software, Oracle database, and related software components underlying the PeopleSoft  HR and Oracle Fusion (SOA).
  • Provide ongoing support, including software tuning, installing upgrades and fixes, and maintaining software for 24/7 availability.
  • Configure and maintain PeopleSoft environments: development, testing, staging, and production.
  • Build application environments in conjunction with Network Services.
  • Perform benchmarks and tuning.
  • Ensure data security protocols are maintained and backup/recovery processes are completed as scheduled
  • Perform PeopleSoft database administration functions for enterprise databases, including setting up and running database management utilities to backup
  • Build, configure, debug and support PeopleSoft applications in a multi-instance hosting environment
  • Provide troubleshooting for isolating technical problems in the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA) including Oracle databases, Tuxedo application servers on AIX, Process schedulers on both AIX and Weblogic configuration
  • Manage infrastructure, COOP/Disaster Recovery, performance and capacity, application administration.
  • Help estimate future capacity requirements
  • Write SQL scripts and batch scripts to help automate routine tasks
  • Assist in migrating PeopleSoft code from development through to production
  • Assist with refreshing of data from production to dev, testing, and staging environments
  • Monitor components such as the Tuxedo Application Server, WebLogic Webserver and Process Scheduler
  • Assist in managing and administering PeopleSoft Security
  • Analyze and resolve database problems and or relationships between PeopleSoft technology components

Skills & Requirements

  • Five (5) years’ experience
  • Strong AIX knowledge
  • Strong Oracle Fusion (SOA) expertise
  • Understanding of SSO integration 
  • Experience and expertise with STAT installation and migration
  • Experience and expertise with OEM and Foglight
  • Experience and expertise with PeopleSoft system upgrades, patching & installations
  • Experience and expertise with PeopleTools 8.54 – 8.56
  • Practical experience with Integration Broker administration
  • Experience and expertise with Secure Enterprise Search
  • Experience and expertise with STAT and Foglight
  • Practical experience in Change Assistant / PUM patching process
  • Experience and expertise in applying quarterly CPU patches to Oracle and PeopleSoft environments
  • Experience and expertise with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c/13c
  • Practical experience administering recent versions of Oracle (11gR2 / 12c)
  • Experience and expertise with RMAN based Back-up and Recovery operations
  • Experience and expertise with database development and normalization
  • Experience and expertise with shell scripting
  • Familiarity with Oracle UPK

Certifications and Clearance: Treasury Public Trust or Top Secret strongly preferred

Required Education: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
  • Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time

Work Environment:

  • Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area
  • The noise level in this environment is low to moderate
