Job Description

Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Database Administrator to join our growing team in support of a Federal customer in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct design and development support of data schema in support of enhancements to existing systems and support the development of new systems.
  • Develop, modifying or configuring moderately complex SQL applications based on requirements provided by the business analysis and architecture teams.
  • Work in a collaborative environment to review current systems and present ideas for system improvements.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience with MongoDB NoSQL database design, installation and support (or similar product).
  • Familiarity with Jira, Jenkins, GitHub.
  • Familiarity with UNIX Commands.
  • Experience working on most phases of applications programming activities, independent of supervisory guidance.
  • Experience with database development and administration on open source databases.
  • Understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in Database Development, Administration and Performance related disciplines.
  • Experience with database implementations including PL-SQL, ERD, Schema Design and Implementation
  • Experience with Web Services, SOA and Restful Web Services
  • Experience with delivering public facing websites for US Government clients strongly desired.

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. US citizenship is mandatory, per contract clearance requirements. Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
