Job Description

Octo Consulting Group is seeking an Agile Trainer/Coach Consultant to join our growing team. As an Agile Trainer/Coach you will be responsible for advising and facilitating policy, process, and cultural transformation across a major government enterprise, specifically at the PMO level.  This includes establishing the transformation strategy and planning, working with government program leadership on Agile adoption, facilitating transformation workshops, removing impediments and obstacles programs and teams are experiencing, monitoring transformation status, reporting on productivity improvement, creating standards and processes, and training personnel. The Agile Trainer/Coach will be engaged throughout the enterprise transformation to facilitate a smooth transformation into Agile processes.  


  • Assess the Agile process and practice across the enterprise and document the “As Is”.
  • Design and develop Agile processes and practices for Agile adoption across a large government agency for both software development and Program Management
  • Provide oversight and leadership in all aspects of Agile transformation and adoption, including training of federal staff and contractors
  • Lead/direct the Agile transformation approach (in compliance with the contract), its major time frames, and delivery of contractual deliverables and supporting work products while using Agile processes.
  • Identify performance gaps in Agile transformation and implement repeatable, sustainable processes to increase operational efficiencies. Assure processes and practices enable teams or departments operate in an integrative and collaborative fashion.
  • Develop Agile training curriculum and design transformation workshops.
  • Lead Agile training and workshops for contractor and government staff.
  • Develop client relationships based on value and personal interactions by exceeding client expectations throughout the project.
  • Facilitate government transformation of organizational governance functions to enable the adoption of Agile processes and practices by the development teams

Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as an Agile Transformation Consultant or Agile Coach leading Agile transformation and adoption within federal and commercial environments
  • 10-15 years professional experience (5+ years in a consulting capacity)
  • One or more Expert-level Agile certification(s) - SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP) etc. - Scaled Agile Framework experience preferred
  • Experience transforming large, government programs to Agile
  • Experience implementing and continually improving Agile principles and practices, and coaching the customer on the recommended approach
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate solutions effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Technical background with a deep understanding of modern DevOps practices preferred
  • Innovative thinking – ability to learn new tools and techniques and apply them to the program
  • Agile Thought Leader preferred – written publications on Agile, speaker at Agile conferences, etc.


  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, MIS) or equivalent experience

Other Considerations: Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
