The Quality Assurance Engineer works under moderate supervision and verifies that software changes submitted by developers function as documented and without errors. Participate in quality projects and processes within the department/team. Documents issues found during testing and follow through to resolution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Executes manual functional testing based on analysis and understanding of the requirements and deployment environment. Verifies those test results through analysis of graphical user interfaces, databases, printed output, and data transmission
  • Analyzes requirements (solution comments, design specifications, and other documentation) and creates test cases to exercise product functionality.
  • Documents and communicates issues found during testing and works with Development to resolve the issue.
  • Provides management with requirements coverage analysis reports, test run results, and defect tracking reports.
  • May assist in troubleshooting customer‐reported issues. Identifying and documenting defects
  • Testing bug fixes
  • Testing new functionality
  • Planning test cases
Skills & Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience (4+ yrs)
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in Quality Assurance

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Software defect tracking experience including ability to create detailed test plans
  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) / Clearinghouse (Medical Billing) preferred
  • Experience producing defect reports
  • Experience testing interfaces between several systems preferred
  • Experience with basic programing, scripting, and SQL a plus
  • Medical software industry experience preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software or system problems preferred
  • Strong communication / organizational skills, analytical ability, and attention to detail required
  • Experience as part of an Agile development team preferred

  • Experience with SQL queries
  • Bonus: Planning and executing Functional, regression, integration, and/or performance and load testing ANSI X12 and ePrescription Transactions
 Work Environment/Physical Demands 
  • While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
  • This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
