APP will primarily see patients who meet the criteria for care in the minor care or fast track area. Other patients may be seen in consultation with the emergency physician(s).

Take histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests.

Perform procedures as defined in the delineation of privileges. This may include procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting and others.

Make a diagnosis and manage common health problems according to acceptable standards.

Provide patient education/discharge instructions and follow-up referral.

Delivers patient care in an expedient manner, with the goal of reducing the patient’s length of visit while providing all necessary care.

Communicates with physicians and ancillary staff efficiently and in a collegial manner.

Plays a major role in the development and updating of patient protocols.

Participates in quality improvement activities.

Attends meetings and performs other duties as assigned by Medical Director.
