Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI) is the fastest growing practice in the Chicago area dedicated to providing comprehensive fertility services. Our supportive and personalized approach to fertility care has led us to become one of the largest providers of fertility services in the United States. 

We are hiring for a full time (40 hour per week), Andrology & Endocrine Laboratory Manager to provide oversight of day-to-day operations in a clinical setting while managing a dynamic team of about 15 employees. 

This position requires a focus on patient service, maintenance of the highest technical standards and provisions of the services and resources necessary for the laboratory to support of the overall practice.

This is an exempt, salaried position reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services. 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for laboratory certification. Directs and assists laboratory personnel in performing laboratory services in accordance with Federal, State and local laws and guidelines to ensure laboratory maintains accreditation. 
  • Responsible for laboratory Quality Assurance: Assist, as required, in maintaining laboratory operations in conformity with OSHA and CLIA regulations 
  • Supervises Andrology & Endocrine personnel while working in an andrologist capacity. 
  • Receive human blood and/or semen samples from patients.
  • Instructs medical personnel in laboratory procedures.
  • Maintains laboratory operations manual, making and documenting all appropriate changes
  • Conducts blood hormone and semen analyses including count mobility, morphology and volume.
  • Perform endocrinology proficiency testing required by CAP
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols 
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
  • Maintain clinical supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory; level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies
  • Assists in staff recruiting, interviewing, orientating and training in cooperation with Human Resources
  • Assists in developing the yearly budget for the department, and monitors monthly expenses 
  • Verify instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical, and administrative staff.
  • Analyze patient samples for hormone levels, semen levels
  • Review results to assure total accuracy
  • Prepare for federal and state inspections to maintain licensure 

 

Skills & Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in laboratory science; state clinical laboratory science license required
  • Must meet CLIA requirements of education and experience for General Supervisor or Technical Supervisor
  • At least one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
