VCG – Consulting Director

 

Position Summary

·         We are looking for a Consulting Director to join Vista Consulting Group (VCG), the operating and consulting arm of Vista Equity Partners (VEP), the leading private equity firm focused on investing in software, data, and technology-enabled businesses.

·         The Consulting Director will be a strategic partner that will work hand in hand with CEOs and their leadership teams across several of our portfolio companies.

·         The Consulting Director will work closely with senior executive teams and VEP stakeholders to identify value creation opportunities, shape and align on implementation, and support their execution and long-term success.

·         The ideal candidate will have six to eight years of post-undergrad or four to six years of post-MBA strategy consulting experience at a top-tier firm. Some casework or exposure to the technology space is preferred but not required.

 

Responsibilities

·         Partner to CEOs

o   Play the role of a traditional consulting partner; gain respect and build trust to develop lasting relationships

o   Establish vision, frame key issues and set high level strategy

o   Influence key executives and stakeholders to support significant change

o   Willing to roll up his/her sleeves to help executives drive results

·         Senior leverage to VEP stakeholders

o   Provide full visibility to progress of strategic initiatives in portfolio companies

o   Ensure issues are escalated with recommendations

o   Apply business judgment to drive efficiency and scalability

o   Instill confidence in trajectory of investments

·         Architect and executor of value creation strategy

o   Shape value creation strategy during diligence / pre-close

o   Identify and frame the most critical priorities; demonstrate understanding of issues and generate hypotheses to solve them; develop practical/pragmatic solutions and action plans

o   Focused on outcomes; committed to making change happen both in the portfolio and for continuous improvement within VCG

o   Coach/mentor assigned consulting staff supporting execution

 

Requirements

·         Four-year degree from a top undergraduate institution, MBA preferred but not required

·         Six to eight years of experience post-undergrad or four to six years of experience post-MBA at a top-               tier management consulting firm; consulting experience should be a combination of strategy and                     operational/implementation

·         Interest in software, technology, and data enabled companies

·         Based in (or willing to relocate to) either Austin or Chicago; should expect to spend time traveling to                 work onsite with portfolio companies as required

·         Intellectual curiosity and honesty

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills

·         Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

·         Influential leadership skills

·         Ability to bring structure to large, complex questions with limited guidance

·         Ability to multi-task and operate independently

·         Significant experience in both process and project management
