Liberty Healthcare is now accepting applications for an available full-time Psychiatrist Medical Director position with our forensic mental health program which is based onsite at the West Valley Detention Center - a San Bernardino County jail located in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive competency restoration services in a timely manner to justice-involved individuals who are experiencing mental illness and found incompetent to stand trial pursuant to California Penal Code 1370.

As Liberty’s Medical Director, you will fulfill a key role with the program, while enjoying a mix of patient care and leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Collaborating with the program’s Executive Director to ensure program clients receive high quality mental health services
  • Carrying a caseload
  • Evaluating, diagnosing, and treating clients
  • Participating in treatment team meetings and case conferences
  • Writing treatment plans and clinical reports
  • Providing court testimony related to involuntary medication orders (primarily by video)
  • Participating in various clinical quality assurance activities
  • Working with another Psychiatrist as well as Psychologists, Mental Health Clinicians, Nurses, ancillary clinicians, and security staff
  • Liaising with partners at the California Department of State Hospitals and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department

You will be required to work in-person onsite at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga – Monday through Friday, during daytime hours.

As a full-time employee of Liberty Healthcare in this role, you can expect:

  • Starting pay between $415,000 and $450,000 (depending on qualifications)

Skills & Requirements

You are a good fit for this position if you are licensed professionally in California as a Physician and also Board Certified in Psychiatry.

Experience providing psychiatric care to adults who have serious mental illness is required.
