A newly-created Director position is anticipated to become available with Liberty Healthcare.

Liberty Healthcare endeavors to establish a new state-of-the-art competency restoration program within the San Diego Central Jail in San Diego, California.  The program will serve jailed inmates who are mentally ill and incompetent to stand trial.  Liberty Healthcare’s multidisciplinary team will provide high quality and timely assessment and treatment to services to our patients, restore them to competency as quickly and effectively as possible, and help prevent prolonged and unnecessary jail and hospital bed utilization.

This cutting edge program is in currently place in several locations in southern California – and received a “Best Practices” award from the California State Council on Mentally Ill Offenders.

Liberty Healthcare’s Director will play a key role in establishment and ongoing leadership of this new program.  This is a dynamic position which will carry a wide array of responsibilities, including:

  • Implementing and managing a high quality forensic mental health / restoration of competency services based on research and best practices
  • Hiring, training and leading a multidisciplinary team comprised of Psychiatrists, LPCCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, Registered Nurses and other ancillary clinicians
  • Overseeing quality assurance and utilization management initiatives
  • Ensuring contract deliverables are met or exceeded and clinical services are compliant with regulatory standards
  • Maintaining appropriate staffing levels and effectively administering the program’s budget
  • Serving as liaison to a wide array of internal and external stakeholders
  • Planning for growth and expansion of services and clinical programming

Skills & Requirements

Well-qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • California LPCC, LCSW, LMFT or Psychology license
  • Prior clinical experience serving corrections patients or people who have serious mental illness within an inpatient psychiatric hospital, correctional facility or secure / locked mental health setting
  • Prior experience successfully leading clinical staff and complex behavioral health systems – preferably within a correctional or forensic setting
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to excel within a dynamic environment
