Wargaming Chicago is looking for a remarkably skilled video game VFX artist to join our team, our ideal candidate will make Michael Bay jealous with jaw-dropping explosions, smoke, and fire using our real-time game engine.

Responsibilities:

• Create all aspects of video game visual effects:
• Create textures, meshes, materials and emitters for ambient and gameplay effects. • Utilize physics systems to create weapon, environment, and destruction effects.
• Highlight gameplay with VFX that are as informative as they are top quality.
• Collaborate across disciplines to push the game engine and expand the quality of VFX.

Key Skills:

• Mind-blowing, video-game visual effects skills demonstrated on a demo reel
• Critical eye for the timing, animation and motion of real world physics with game effects.
• Understanding of material editor systems and how they apply to game effects.
• Mastery of fluid simulation translation to real-time particle systems
• Ability to understand game scripting and implement features quickly.
• Expertise with 3D Modeling, unwrapping and texturing.
• Pro-active work ethic in response to design and art needs; interdepartmental fluency.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; solid time management.
• Gracefully receive and utilize feedback from the VFX Lead, Design team, and other Art Leads.
• Ability to learn new software and game engine tools quickly.
• Three or more years’ experience as a visual effects artist in the game industry.

Desirable:

• Passion for videogames and game development technology.
• Familiarity with FumeFX, Havok physics, and other fluid simulation programs.
• Experience with 3ds Max and Adobe After Effects.
• Impressive in-game examples of realistic explosions, fire, and smoke.
